This video, filmed from three cameras at Nabhyan Aerospace's test stand, shows the full 120-second firing of the company's Chakor-1 engine, which burns liquid methane and liquid oxygen.
Watch for the moment of ignition, when the flame turns from orange to a nearly transparent blue as the engine reaches full power. Methane burns cleanly, so there is little smoke compared with older kerosene engines.
Around the one-minute mark, the camera at the side of the stand shows frost forming on the propellant lines, a sign of the extremely cold liquids flowing into the engine. The shutdown at 120 seconds was planned, and engineers can be heard counting down in the control room.
"A clean shutdown is as important as a clean start," said chief engineer Dr Kiran Reddy. "It tells us the valves and the software did exactly what we asked."
The company now plans a series of longer and repeated firings to test how well the engine survives reuse. Read more about the test and the company's launch plans.
